Rules and Regulations
1. The pumpkin must have been grown and cared for by the exhibitor.
2. An exhibitor may enter only one specimen per class for prize money. Additional fruit may be entered and listed as EXH (or DMG, as necessary)
3. A specimen must be entered and weighed by the exhibitor at Pumpkinfest 2006 in
Cooperstown
,
NY
. An entry fee of $10 USD may be charged for each person, regardless of how many fruit or classes entered.
4. There will be a panel of 3 judges to inspect entries and supervise weighing. All decisions by the judges are final.
5. Color Rule- A SQUASH is 100% green, gray, blue, or combination thereof. The definition of squash for this competition is the generally accepted definition used by pumpkin growers known and referred to as “true squash”. All others are considered Pumpkins.
6. The specimen must be sound, healthy and undamaged. Entries must be free of rot, holes/cracks through the cavity, chemical residue (fungicides) and soft spots large enough to affect the integrity of the fruit.
7. No foreign material is permitted to be included in the weighing. Vine must be trimmed to one inch from the stem of the fruit. The judges reserve the right to fully inspect each specimen before the weight is announced and official. Refusal to allow the inspection of an entry will cause said entry to be deemed "exhibition only".
8. Any specimen previously entered or weighed at any other National or International competition prior to the

event is not eligible for competition.
9. In the event of a tie, the prize money for those two places will be combined and split equally.
10. Entries must be received on an official entry form by 10:00 a.m. Unloading may start as early as 8:00 a.m.
11. No entrant/spectator shall attempt to influence the judges or impede the proceedings of a fair competition.
12. If the first place pumpkin is grown in
New York
State
and breaks the current State record (currently 1407 pounds), an additional bonus prize of $250 will be awarded.
13. If the first place squash is grown in
New York
State
and breaks the current State record , an additional bonus prize of $250 will be awarded.
